Siiiiick.

In the middle of the night on Saturday, I woke up with a 103 fever and shaking from the cold. I was a little out of it, but I do remember asking Steve for 2 Percocets (instead of 1) and a Motrin because my abdominal pain was so intense. I also asked for an additional blanket and that's when he looked at me like I was crazy.

We were initially concerned that it was some sort of infection from the c-section. After a quick call yesterday, my OB asked to see me this morning.

I'm sure it was a combination of things that hit me, but nevertheless, I was down and out. Thankfully it wasn't anything internal, it's just a nasty cold. I am still able to see the twins as long as I don't breathe on them and I CONTINUALLY wash and sanitize my hands. If I feel this way in the morning, though, I won't be able to go. They struggle to remember to breathe let alone try to fight a silly thing like a cold.

As I sit here tonight, my energy drained and my body running on empty, I long for the time when I can feel like myself again and hear the stomping of their tiny feet in the house. I know when that day comes, I'll still be exhausted, and I'll still probably struggle to get up in the morning, but as my mom says, "Those are happy sounds" and I'd give almost anything to put this disabling fatigue and sickness behind me.

As always, Steve continues to be incredibly helpful and and attentive. (He always holds my arm when we cross the snow in case I fall. His grip is so firm I feel more like an escorted convict, but I'm not complaining.)

We spent 3 beautiful hours holding the babies today. I held Lilly swaddle style so that I could turn my head from her if I had to cough, etc. (I also like to hold them this way because I can study their faces.) I tear up every time I remember that the doctor said we would've lost her had we waited any longer to deliver. Whatever "inconvenience" or discomfort we endure because of this is a small price to pay for their health and well-being.

We only got pictures of Josiah today because Lilly was sleeping like a rock and we tried not to disturb her. (Also because Josiah was trying to open his eyes and it was hilarious watching his face contort to find the right muscles to use.)

Thank you for your continued support, love, and prayers.
