Events.

This Memorial Day weekend the spectacular weather has provided us with numerous opportunities to be outside and play- which is one of our favorite things to do as a family. Saturday, the twins woke up on time/semi-late which let Steve and I grab a shower before the chaos of their breakfast/chasing them around the house to get dressed began. After everyone had eaten and dressed, we went to Wood Park in Cinnaminson. Josiah made friends with every one there, including a guy with his kid (Josiah kept giving hugs to the guy).

Lilly's doing SO MUCH BETTER with her walking. Because she's slower and a little more unbalanced, we have to make a conscious effort to let her walk places and not keep carrying her. She tottered around the field and the playground like a big girl, enjoying every second of her independence. She's particularly fascinated with flowers. She loves to touch and smell them. Josiah studied each tree and each abnormality in the dips and hills of the fields. He's so funny like that; very observant and intellectual.

Almost daily, Lilly takes out her hair ties and bows. On occasion, she'll let them stay in and whenever she does, I always try to snap a picture as proof that I didn't let her walk around like a ragamuffin.

This Memorial Day, my family also celebrated my birthday. It was beautiful outside...couldn't have asked for more summer-like weather. We stayed out as much as possible to enjoy it. My dad grilled excellent chicken, hamburgers and hotdogs and every one contributed delicious sides and such. Other than a few mini-meltdowns around lunch, the kids were fabulous. A fun time was had by all.

Ah yes. Every one must have a turn. The only problem was that he like to pretend to get a drink. He didn't actually like the water shooting in his mouth.

It's no secret around here that Josiah loves to "talk" on the phone. My sister took the battery out of hers so Josiah could take care of business.

Thanks to everyone for making my birthday special. We missed seeing our cousins and uncle there, but we were thinking of you.

Thanks also to those serving our country, present and past, where would we be without you?

Happy Memorial Day!

More Video

So, they're pretty much amazing. I was reading through their book (previously mentioned) for the first time last night and got teary-eyed several times. Seriously. Will our kids ever know how awesome we think they are?

Josiah and Lilly learn and grow more every SINGLE day. Lilly's officially a walker. She's a bit stiff-legged giving the impression that she's got rods in her knees, but she manages just fine. I always turn around and find her there at my feet staring at up me and smiling. What a precious little girl. For the most part she's very easy going. We love how silly and loving she is. Her favorite comedian is herself. She's always laughing and covering her eyes with her hands. What a character :)

Josiah is a monster man more than ever. His newest trick is hoisting himself up on the couch and love seat- YIKES! It's pretty much the only thing we can't baby proof. He's taken his share of spills over the edge, but never seems to learn. Josiah's kisses are the best. He gives them wet and sloppy. He'll run up to you, arms outstretched and plant a big one on your cheek. I don't know how I'm ever going to share him with another girl when he grows up.

I'm trying to do better about including videos, but I haven't figured out how to take them in high definition, so they're always a little blurry- sorry about that.
Playing :)

The Book, Etc.

Steve & I ordered a hardback book of our blog, from the time they were born to the time they came home. It includes the pictures and entries...all 127 pages of them! We ordered a blue one for Josiah and a yellow one for Lilly (they didn't have pink which was our first preference). We're very pleased with the way turned out and are excited that they'll be able to have such a complete record of our memories and experiences for them.

So this was never meant to be a foodie blog, but I loooove cooking and creating. Tonight we had lasagna with garlic cheese bread and salad (green beans for the babies). It was delicious! The kids kept signing "more, more!"

Tomorrow I'm making cucumber sandwiches with a cream cheese/sour cream/mayo/seasoned spread (which "marinates" overnight) and sweet potato fries. I may add bell peppers to the mix...sliced very thin. Not sure how much Steve is going to like this one, but it's worth a try.

I was going to make the mix for enchiladas for a meal later in the week, but I just couldn't bring myself to. I am sooo tired....3 more weeks of school, baby!
