More Progress

With Bethany sick, I went to see the kids on my own today.  The snow wound down for a bit this morning and I made it to the hospital before it picked back up again.  As I pulled into the parking lot, the sleet began and it got worse.

But that was outside and I didn’t need to worry about that for a while.  Inside, the babies were doing great.  Josiah had his PICC line taken out today and both Lilly and Josiah had their cannulas taken out.  They are both getting all of their nutrition from the breastmilk and doing all of their breathing on their own.  There’s no guarantee that one or both of them don’t go back on some air, but it’s a big step forward regardless.

The timing was terrific – with both of them off of their air and fluids, I was able to hold both of them together.  They were funny as they snuggled together for the first time in two weeks.  They stay awake for about 5 minutes after they get changed and the feeding starts – then they go back to sleep.  Lilly (on the left) turned her head and Josiah ended up laying with his head on her cheek once they fell asleep.

Your twins remind me so much of the beginning of my life. I was born at 30 weeks too and would forget to breathe and have trouble feeding but it will work out, I mean I turned out good right (ha ha). With your love and care they will grow up to be awesome people, I'm sure of it.

Steven and Bethany,

I love seeing Josiah and Lilly together! They look awesome! It's been amazing to follow their progress with words and pictures. Thank you so much for sharing as you have. We are so proud of both of you and love you much.

Bethany, sure hope you are feeling better soon.

Lot of love,

Mom
