Steve spent the day at work and then came to visit us at the hospital, so there aren't very many pictures.
Lilly was able to eat 18 ccs when I breast feed her without any drops in respiratory or heart rate. When she was finished, she let out a huge burp. I was so proud!!!
I spent 2 amazing hours holding Josiah. His favorite position is on my chest. I love that they have such a distinct baby smell and when I talk to them, they tilt their heads and try to focus on my face with their blue eyes.
Although today was lonely and frustrating without Steve there, it was incredibly therapeutic to hold the babies. When I drove home from the hospital in the evening, I couldn't help but break down and cry. We're just so tired and desperately want them home. I hate seeing Steve so exhausted. Between his cold, the burns, and these NICU trips, I think he's just about at his wits end. It takes so long to wrap him all up......just under and hour and a half.
We have a lavender candle burning tonight. It makes me feel so relaxed. Thankfully Steve's mom is here to do some laundry, dishes, change the cat litter and fix us dinner. It's such a relief to have help with that. Hopefully we'll be able to go to bed at a reasonable hour and although I'll have to be up to pump every so often (the novelty has worn off LONG ago), at least things will be in order at home and Steve will be able to get some rest.
Here are the pictures from today:

You may not remember me, I was a member of your Dad's church in Council Bluffs. Pastor Celeste passed your Blog on to me after the babies were born, and I've loved reading your posts and looking at your precious babies! I wanted to let you know that I've been praying for your family. It is overwhelming in so many ways right now. It won't last long and soon you will have your babies home and in a wonderful routine (as routine as it gets with babies, anyway). Take it day by day and moment by moment. You are doing an amazing job! God Bless!

This too shall pass, guys. You can do it!
And as the great fictional Dumbledore once said,"Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light."
Love you,
Emily
Beth and Steve, I just want to say that I have been following your blog and I think it's great that you take the time to share your experience with others. Both babies get more beautiful with each series of pictures you provide. Soon they will be home with you, life will continue to be very hectic and then before you know it they will off to college. But, they will always be you babies. Good luck and hang in there. Oh, try to keep Steve away from any hot drinks. I suggest something cold, maybe iced tea.

Keep it up Beth! In case you haven't noticed it yet, pumping can take longer than breastfeeding. You are doing great though! The babies are cuter with each picture! Can't wait to meet them!
