change your mentality

It's easiest to blog about the exceptional times. The best memories. The pee-in-your-pants laughs.

It take a certain amount of self security and confidence in people so share the harder times.

This morning the kids were really annoying. I know you aren't supposed to say that about their own flesh and blood, but from the moment they awoke they were throwing things, pushing each other, whining incessantly, screaming in frustration, (I'm trying to change your diaper! Who wants to sit in that?) dumping, banging, and spitting (Josiah's awesome new trick).

I looked at the clock.

8:45.

Sweet.

It's really frustrating that everything is a production with the twins. It's not like, "Oh, let me make dinner," or "Why don't I clean the bathrooms?" or "Guess I should do a load of laundry so we have underwear."

It's more like, "Let me pry this teething child off my legs so I can stand in the kitchen and make a meal while everyone yells at me from the baby gate; please don't take off your diaper or spit on your sister; stop throwing your food on the floor-I made that for you! Don't take that toy away from him and stop pulling out your ponytail."

“You can't stay in your corner of the Forest waiting for others to come to you. You have to go to them sometimes.”  - Winnie the Pooh

What this means to me today is, "Get out of your funk. It's ok to be irritated, but the only one you're bringing down is yourself. Pouting in your room and writing a blog about why you're upset won't fix the issues on the other side of the door."

Or as Denzel Washington would say (a favorite of ours)....

"Man up."
