Shh. Don't tell.

So here I am at 11 pm on a school night (ghastly, I know) creating and planning a grammar/writing unit that basically throws away my plans for the rest of the year in favor of skills I see the students are really weak in. It's a collaborative effort between our "house" teaching team (teachers who teach the same kids in different subjects/grades) and a total experiment.

WHY am I telling you this?

Because I'm excited. Giddy. Inspired. Ready.

I'm such a nerd when it comes to my job. I love the fresh pencils, the smooth black ink of my favorite pens, the planners, the folders, the powerpoints, the dozens of eyes fixated in interest, doubt, boredom, and excitement. I love being a part of innovative ideas to reach students that motivate myself and those around me.

With all the teacher-craziness in NJ these days, you'd think it would've just about sapped any rosey-eyed view of teaching right out of me.

So heres to the naysayers, the critics, the boo-ers in the back of the room.

I'm good at what I do and I love it.

Heck yes you're good at it. Seeing your passion for your job has always made me want to teach, too. You'd be a better teacher, though :)
