I’m not kidding!

Excerpts from my conversation with the condo association this morning:

Association: “Mr. Creel – we wanted to let you know that the contractors will be in your home today and tomorrow”
Steve: “Thank you.  Can you tell me what work they’ll be doing?”
Association: “I have no idea.  They’ll be doing a ‘scope of work’ today and probably starting repairs later today”
Steve: “Can you let me know once they finish their scope of work so I know what they’ll be doing?”
Association: “I don’t think they’ll tell us that”

19 minutes of that this morning!

Steve: “My neighbor tells me they were told we do not need to pay dues for March – is that correct?”
Association: “Yes”
Steve: “Is that something you were going to tell the residents at some point?  Dues are supposed to be paid already.”
Association: “I don’t know – I just found that out yesterday.”
Steve: “My neighbor knew the middle of last week”
Association: “I don’t know what to say”

Steve: “I was told on Friday that owners of end-units allowed back into their homes at any time – can you confirm that?”
Association: “I haven’t heard anything like that, I don’t know”

Steve: “So the contractors are going to come in, decide what work needs to be done, then do the work”
Association: “Yes”
Steve: “And I can’t be in the house until they are finished?”
Association: “Yes”
Steve: “And your company won’t know what work they will do/are doing/have done until after it is all completed?”
Association: “Yes”
Steve: “And I’m not allowed to talk to them directly?”
Association: “No”
Steve: “So there is zero accountability and the contractor is essentially able to do whatever they want and I have to come in afterwards and just deal with it?”
Association: “No, we’re overseeing things and keeping them accountable”
Steve: “But you have no idea what work they’ll be doing?”
Association: “No”

Just for fun, I’m thinking about scheduling a checkup so the doctor can take my blood pressure and then ask why it’s so high.  That would be a funny conversation.
