Condo Association meeting: Fail.

Last night, Bethany and I attended our first condo association board meeting.  It was so disappointing that I’d prefer to not even recount the experience.  In the end, the association board made almost no comments during the 20 minute conversation about the repairs to our building.  Though I directed repeated questions to the board members, they abdicated their responsibility to the residents and instead allowed the owner of the management company to both run the meeting and exclusively respond to my concerns.  Since my concerns were exclusively about how the management company was handling this process, you can imagine the unproductive conversation that took place.

Aside from engaging a lawyer to be involved with us on this, there’s no further we can push this.  That’s certainly an option but would only make the situation worse for us.  Right now, we’re told that we should be back in the house no more than 2 weeks from now.  Once we’re back in, provided repairs are done properly and safely (as I think I’ve mentioned before, we have confidence in the contractor doing the repairs – the problems are in the management company’s relaying of information), we just want these headaches to go away.

Last night, Bethany and I talked for a bit about the whole situation.  While we could be overcome by the parasitic emotional (and time) drain this situation causes for us, life goes on.  Regardless of how we approach this, each day comes and goes just like they always will.  Allowing our perspective to narrow to just this one issue would make this a 4-5 week horrible experience.  Instead, the richness of each day comes from helping Lilly try to walk, from wrestling with Josiah, taking the kids out to dinner, enjoying downtime to spend with each other after they are asleep, watching a good movie (or two), and the like.

Last note:
Tomorrow will be one year since we brought the kids home from the hospital.  It’s hard to believe!  Thankfully we’ve not had to take them back since! [for injuries, not to return them]

I have finally caught up on your blog and wow! I knew that your building had a fire from Beth's FB postings. I decided it was time to catch up on all the blogs I watch, cuz I haven't since the beginning of this pregnancy. I'm glad that I did take the time to catch up. I can't imagine being in your shoes right now.

I pray that God will continue to meet all the needs during this frustrating time.

In my experience, it is hard to live in a place away from home. It takes time to adjust. The kids are used to home and when you are away from home, like on vacation - even if you are in a suite or townhouse type of location - it is still an adjustment, even if only for a week.

Glad you are able to find joy in spending quality time together and appreciating the blessings you still have.
