The Last Big One

Most days I have no idea what I’m doing.

Well, maybe an idea.

A vague, instinctual, pray-it-works idea that fails one day and succeeds another, but it’s days like this one that make me think I know what I’m doing.

For instance….Steve and I have learned to wait for the last big burp. Don’t let the little ones in between feedings fool you. There is always one that comes several minutes post bottle that if you’re not ready for, will drench you and your precious one in partly digested milk.

Although these last several weeks have been chaotic enough to keep Steve and I from blogging everyday, I suddenly have this drive to document everything. Time is slipping. They are growing bigger, stronger, smarter, and funnier every day.

Raising multiples is difficult. It really is. Raising one baby is hard enough. It’s incredibly easy to feel overwhelmed, anxious and unprepared (times 2!) no matter how many bottles you prepare the night before. I don’t consider myself a particularly reactionary person, but hours of fussy babies is sure to put a damper on anyone’s spirit. Best advice someone gave me is to get help. Don’t try to be a hero. Get out of the house with and without the babies when you can and don’t for a second take yourself seriously. You look as ridiculous in spit up stained shirts and pajama pants as you think. And it’s ok.

Although I'm committed to taking high quality pictures with our camera, most days I don't have time, so by phone will have to do for now...
