It's been a C.R.A.Z.Y. several hours.

Josiah never settled down after yesterday's 12 am feeding. I stayed up with him all night rocking, bouncing, playing Wii Fit with him....anything to get him to stop crying. He settled down for an hour or so on my chest, but continued to bear down, squirm, throw his head around and all kinds of other wonderful things to keep me on my toes. By the time this morning rolled around, Steve and I were bleary and slow. He needed to go into work for several hours so he was able to miss the brunt of their fussing. Josiah and Lilly cried the entire time I was in the shower, but I felt I would be unable to maintain sanity without being clean.

After several hours of dual screaming, I called Steve's mom and asked if she would come over to help settle them. After an hour, both babies passed out; mouths open, arms limp.

Blessed silence.

So here are my thoughts:

It's hard to enjoy the babies when you're weary, frustrated, impatient, hungry, stiff and generally maxed-out. It is, however, WORTH IT. There's something *magical* about watching their little faces relax into gassy smiles, hands clinging to your shirt, eyes heavy with sleep knowing that they're YOURS. They are a part of you.

Oh! And there was this one story.....

While Ashley and Kara were here, they tried out our Wii tennis. While they were playing a game, I was carrying around Josiah in the Baby Bjorn trying to sooth him. I snuck a piece of chocolate Easter egg to snack on (needed a sugar rush).

As I puttered around the house, collecting laundry and dirty dishes, I noticed something dark on Josiah's hands. As I took a closer look, I realized it was down his shirt, on his face and in his hair. Gross!!!!!!! He had pooped EVERYWHERE. I yelled for help and the girls came running. As they were unhitching him from the Baby Bjorn, a thought occurred to me. Was it in fact poop? Poop or chocolate? Chocolate or poop? The girls and I died laughing. Apparently, I had dropped a piece of chocolate Easter egg between Josiah and I, melting the chocolate all over him. Ashley and I were useless because we couldn't stop laughing. Kara was the only one with the where-with-all to change the sticky little man.

Pedicures with the girls...

Oh, to have been a fly on the wall that day! That would have been a sight to see! Glad you figured out it was chocolate! Sure is easier to clean that up!
