Our moving weekend was perfect- the weather was sunny and warm, so many family and friends worked to make it a smooth transition and we were able to accomplish more than we could have imagined!
Our primary focus has been on the landscaping, which means that almost all inside projects are on hold. I don't mind a bit! We enjoy learning about lawn care together. The next big outside project is a sprinkler system.
We're taking the yard bit by bit. Right now we're concentrating on the front right. For each piece of yard, we need to rake away the hay (laid by the builders after they did a round of seeding), pick up a multitude of rocks and debris, even out the lawn (so many vehicles from the building pitted the lawn), rake to turn the soil, spread seed and then fertilizer. And water. And water. And water.
Although it's a long and arduous process, it's really rewarding to see the baby grass shoot up. The kids have been SO good about staying off that section of lawn to let things grow.
In other news, we had a nice Easter dinner at my sister's house the weekend we moved. We were all pretty beat, having worked all weekend and gotten a fair bit of sun, but it was fun to sit around together and hang out at a local park.
More recent pictures of the property.
Left front (by the road). This was a real wilderness...completely covered in vines!
Planted baby trees:
My dad trimmed these bushes completely! They were one huge mess!
Steve's mom planted some plants that our new neighbors gave us.
Trimmed the evergreens:
We'll eventually build a patio by the bottom sliding glass doors and build a deck from the kitchen (upper sliding glass doors).
Back roadside:
TONS of lawn waste. This was just a tiny pile.
New decal (that I put on unevenly) and mailbox.
Kids having a BLAST.
The kids were at a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle/Princess birthday party that day...hence the cape and face paint!
Afternoon fun
Dirty, happy kids.
