The Start of Things

...we're back to our fall routine...

It's amazing how quickly the summer passed. It already seems like weeks and weeks since we played at the pool and spent whole days outside. I am in full autumn mode now; craving hot drinks, scarves, slippers and the festivities this time of year brings. School has begun again. This week will be our first full week of classes and activities.

The baby continues to grow...19 weeks today!

There are a million small stories to tell about Josiah and Lilly...good and bad. For now, I'll leave you with these:

  • Lilly hit her head against the corner of the table this morning. She was very sad, and when asked to give her a hug and a kiss, Josiah planted a good one on her check and wrapped his arms around her.

  • I pulled out the couch to scavenger for lost Cheerios. Like lightning, the kids scrambled out of reach behind the couch to play. When I came back from putting the vacuum away, I could hear them giggling and wrestling.

  • Jack was laying in the living room window, enjoying the sun when Lilly crept up behind him. She patted his back, rubbed his belly and laid her head on his saying "Hi, Jackers".

And as always, we remember the names read annually at Ground Zero, the Pentagon and in Pennsylvania.

"I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom." - Abraham Lincoln
