So this is love...

What a GREAT day with the babies!

Both Josiah and Lilly had an excellent night. Josiah slept from 12 am to 3:45, drank his bottle and promptly fell asleep on my shoulder. I love snuggling with this boy. I put him down around 4:30 am (delaying with the hope of avoiding reflux) and slept for an hour before I heard Lilly's squeaky cries. She had last eaten around 9 pm and went to sleep at 11. I was a little concerned about such a gap between feedings, but waking her up and trying to feed her is unproductive and frustrating. She does NOT eat well unless she's good and awake.

The rule of thumb we've been following is that the babies will always let us know when they want something so unless they're crying we don't see the need to wake them overnight. During the day, however, I offer them a bottle (awake or asleep) every 4-5 hours. This way they reach their food quota mostly during the day and can sleep longer periods of time overnight.

Lilly finished her bottle and after a half hour of coxing smiles out of her, she started to yawn and get those droopy eyes. Minutes later she was curled up against my chest fast asleep. It's amazing how light and long she is compared to Josiah. He is such a solid little guy!

Finally I dragged myself to bed, relishing our clean sheets and fluffy pillows. Steve was good enough to get up with Josiah around 9 am and I woke up at 10 to feed Lilly. Both babies were up for a while. We love, love, love our playmat! Both babies get a kick out of the plush hanging toys and brightly colored mat.

I love being able to enjoy them. There are some days that are very difficult. In general, I think the weakening, exhausting, overwhelming days are getting few and far between. Steve's mom has been very helpful; allowing me to spend time at the gym or running errands almost every day. It makes the time I am at home more valuable and special.

The playmat mirror is that plastic-like glass. It distorts facial features...

I think Lilly looks funny in this one :)

Lilly LOVES snuggling with daddy when he comes home!!!
