As most of you know, Steve's mom loves to crochet. She's made hats, (you may recall NICU pictures) blankets, holiday Santa caps, and can now add slippers to her repertoire. These slippers for Lilly are so cute and comfortable!
Although I've taken NyQuil (several hours ago now) I can't to sleep. Hopefully the morning will be uneventful. For now, I'm curled up on the couch with Harry Potter to keep me company.
We managed to be incredibly productive today. The Christmas decorations are gone (including the tree and lights) we've boxed and carted several tubs to the storage unit, and have begun the process of reorganizing the kitchen cabinets and hall closet/pantry.
A few nights ago, Steve and I watched a documentary about the Appalachian Mountain Trail (a 2,175 mile long footpath from Georgia to Main) and the individuals who hike in its wilderness. It takes about 6 months to complete the entire expedition. We marveled at the commitment and fortitude it takes hikers to complete this journey. I love the outdoors and miss being able to take long walks, hike, bike, camp, swim, and picnic whenever I want. It was bittersweet to realize that we can't just pick up and visit friends or travel like we used to. Although our lives have become a strange conglomeration of mundane events, sweet moments, long days, wakeful nights, and exciting outings to Target, I know that this time won't last forever...which means two things....
- Savor every moment. Things are flying WAY TO FAST. It's not just the twins. It's everything. For instance, this year Steve and I will have been married for 4 years and the twins will turn ONE. It's strange how the days drag and slip all at the same time.
- Anticipate the excitement. Right now, life for us is great, but difficult. There are so many things we're excited to do. We can't wait to explore the world with the twins and make and achieve goals of our own.
Happy 2011!
There is much to be thankful for.
