Christmas Eve, Eve

A special congratulations to our friends Joe and Jack on the birth of their lovely baby boy, Paxton, born December 1st. He was born quite early, but both mom and baby are doing well. Pax is spending time in the same NICU that Josiah and Lilly were in. Talk about a walk down memory lane! Love you guys! Can't wait to meet the little one!

Saw this onesie.

Oh, this couldn't be more true.

At one point, we had several glorious weeks of keeping them on a ridged schedule and sleeping through the night, however since camping- which seems like forever ago- we've continued to trade sickness between the four of us. It makes it impossible for them to sleep in the same room together without waking each other up from coughing, etc. As the quieter (albeit EARLIER riser of the two) Lilly has been sleeping in the pack and play in our room while Josiah continues to reign (and stink up) the nursery. It's an arrangement that works, but inevitably one of them wakes up from a gross diaper, cold from kicking their covers off or for some other unknown reason. We've had more long nights and early mornings than would care to have.

On the other hand, we're having the time of our lives with them. These kids are hilarious! Even though we're more excited about Christmas than they are (at this point) we can't WAIT to wake up with them on Christmas day and have them climb over their boxes of presents!

Currently Steve is wrapping their biggest gift (a tabletop toy thing- pictures will follow) and taking great pride in his IMMACULATE wrapping job. Kudos, baby.

In recent news, Josiah ate a piece of cat poop this week. I SERIOUSLY turned my head for 4 seconds and there he was down the hall, stuffing cat litter and poop into his mouth. I admit that I freaked out, scaring both him, myself, and Lilly in the living room. After I dug what I could out of his mouth, I scooped him up and practically drowned him in the sick of clean warm water I was going to wash the dishes with. I called Steve. No answer. I called our pediatrician. They were closed. Finally, I called the Poison Control line. The lady who I spoke to said that unless he showed any "unusual" signs, he just needed lots of water (to wash away the clumping litter) and to be monitored for a while.

Crazy, crazy boy.

Lilly's been spazing out in the Jumperoo the last several times she's been in there. It's so fun to watch. I haven't been able to get a video of it, but it goes something like this. She gets excited about being able to move around and play with her toys so she bounces up and down very rapidly, waving her arms, hollering in a loud, squeaky voice like Tarzan (Ahahahahah!) and shaking her body back and forth. I can't wait for the day this little girls moves on her own. She shows a bit more interest (and frustration) in reaching and pushing to get things. It's remarkable how different these two are!

This year, I've been unable to make a traditional amount of food, which is sad because I do enjoy it, however Steve and I have been looking for the perfect sugar cookie recipe and have tried a couple with some success. I still don't feel like they have much flavor, even with homemade icing. Hopefully we'll have it all set before Santa comes tomorrow!!!

Wishing you a safe and happy evening,

Bethany
