Comfortable…
Speedy…
Dependable…
Friendly…
Interesting…
For the most part these are the things I think about when I think about taking a train ride. Several times we’ve met very nice people, had interesting scenery to look at and were able to kick up our feet and snooze.
The moments I regret riding the train are the times we encounter the overly friendly person, the loud talker, the parents who allow their kids to run wild, the purse thief (trip to Chicago) or the oblivious passenger listening to a movie on their laptop or music on their earphones the whole train car can hear.
On this trip, it was the fussy toddler. It must have been every 5-10 minutes of the ENTIRE train ride that he would let out a wail complete with tears and screaming. At one point it woke me from my sleep so suddenly that I was fighting mad. I thought about locking the kid in this small compartment at the end of the train car along with the electrical equipment.
Seriously…
I was glad to arrive in Canada.
