Vacation at Massanutten–Day 4

On Thursday, we finally went to the Water Park (the kids had been waiting and talking about this for about 6 weeks now).  They had a blast which is best conveyed through pictures…

[We bought a waterproof camera, Nikon AW-100, which we’ve used for two days now.  It’s rated as waterproof to 30 feet – it’s freaky putting it in the pocket on my swim shorts and then wading into the lazy river but it has been working great.  We’ve been sad to not be able to get pictures here in the past and are very happy with how it’s worked out!]

The indoor part of the water park is open year-round (with shortened hours and closed a day or two a week as it gets colder), the outdoor part is obviously seasonal.  They keep the inside air and water temperature-controlled (nice both in hot and cold weather).  Still, it’s not 90 degrees and so the kids get chilly (and purple-lipped) after spending the afternoon there.  We'll probably get them shorty wetsuits for when we come back (and for other swimming).

Riding on the rafts in the Lazy River:

Getting ready to go on the water slides [they aren’t the 42 inches required for the 5 “grown up” slides but there was no age/height restriction for these 3 slides.  We were a little unsure (they have to go down by themselves, not with one of us) but they badly wanted to try.  The both loved it right away and this was where we spent about half of our time, if not more.]

Back on the lazy river for Mom and Dad to warm back up!

We went to one of the pools (this was “regular” water temperature, the other pool was between “regular” and “hot tub” temperatures – it felt great) to play and swim for a bit.

Lilly wanted me to go under water with her and I wasn’t prepared with my own goggles so I got to use these.

Some more water slides before calling it a day…
