I’ve taken the kids (except Noah) on several trips from Cherry Hill to 30th Street Station where we grab lunch, walk around, watch some of the Septa trains come and go, then head back home. Today, we went as a whole family (and got a nice early start to the day too!).
It’s a 25 minute drive from home to the train station, then a 30 minute train ride across the river and into 30th Street Station (including a trip past the Zoo). We’ve had a blast every time (excluding the hour I lost my phone before recovering it from the Conductor on the trip back home) and the kids think it’s great.
Leaving the house
Beth was trying to get a picture of Lilly and Josiah while I was closing up the house – this was the best we could get!
At Cherry Hill NJT Station
What an expression! Both Lilly and Josiah were extremely anxious for the train to arrive. She was being funny while we all sat on the platform waiting.
Lilly, Mommy, and Noah’s hat…
Josiah was excited but trying to keep it contained…
We’ve learned that you can first see the lights on the train as it comes around the corner (which I’m pointing out to the kids) and then you hear the horn, then you can hear the noise from the engine (which they’re startled by).
Noah and Mommy
Josiah and I were still sitting by the tracks watching the train and Lilly went back to tell Beth that the train was coming. Her explanation involved these excited faces!

Noah’s had a thing recently with having his tongue hanging out like a dog in the middle of summer!

Watching Septa trains come and go
We stopped for snack in the middle of the station and the kids had fun playing on the benches. Noah enjoyed climbing all over me and I’m sure was glad to wiggle around instead of being strapped in!
Back on the Septa platforms before we left for one last hunt for more trains. Unfortunately, there were none to be found but the kids enjoyed it anyway.
On the train back to Cherry Hill
Don’t miss Lilly half-asleep in the background of this one!
Here’s Lilly half-asleep again… Though they rode in the stroller, they were both so worn out!
