The last 4 days, Steve's been laid low with his first (and hopefully only) migraine. In addition, the kids are still recovering from their bouts of roseola. They still don't have any stamina and are exhausted only hours after being up for the morning and from their nap in the afternoon. Their nights were sleepless and uncomfortable, especially for Josiah who also had a double ear infection.
Though I've tried to go out with the kids as much as possible, the doctor's restriction of NO "heat or sun" made it a little difficult. There's only so many trips to Target you can make before you spend all your money.
Yesterday was the kids (and Steve's) first "good day". I wanted to take them to Chick-fil-A (aka "the cow") to play in the indoor play place and grab a bite. I'm serious when I say I'd had it. After a week of misery, I couldn't take the constant whining, badgering, tantrums & scuffles between them any more. Steve's mom had even kept Noah overnight so that I could at least rest when the twins were.
On my way out the door, Steve said something like, "Have fun and I love you" but I was too annoyed at how Josiah and Lilly were pushing each other out the door to do anything by mumble grumpily. Before I even pulled out of our neighborhood, I'd changed my mind about going to Chick-fil-A and instead went to Lowes. For a while, I thought the kids would enjoy potting their own plants and looking after them. It was fun to pick out the flowers, the dirt and the pots. The kids even got out their mini watering cans to hydrate them after they were planted.
It wasn't everything I hoped it would be. Although they're outside quite a bit, I think in my mind I was trying to get them that dose of nature in the absence of having our own land. They were more concerned with the dirt on their hands then they were with anything else. We had to re-pot Josiah's because he accidentally knocked it over in his excitement to water it.
My feelings were boosted when they spend a significant amount of time peering at their little pots from our screen door.
A little something to brighten up our shady corner. Notice how much potting soil we spilled!
Our littlest man will be 5 months old at the end of July!
I love feeding him cereal. These pictures are all from one setting. You'll notice he gets progressively dirtier even though I clean him off regularly.
FULL.
