Things went well and we were able to get the cleaning company to come out Thursday to clean the house. That means we’ll be able to move stuff back in Thursday night (though we can’t stay there as they’ll be deodorizing the house and we’d all smell like lemons or some fruit). We’ll pack up and leave from the hotel for vacation on Friday afternoon.
We’ve spent all night packing! I was at the house moving some stuff and putting things away to prepare for the cleaners tomorrow. I’ll be meeting them over there at 9am (with the kids) and hopefully it will be a smooth few hours (maybe the kids and I will do some errands!). We’ll find out later in the day when they are done and we get to move Jack and Milo back to the house. They’ll get a night to be there on their own and get adjusted but we’ll check in on them – we’ll be in and out on Friday as we get ready to leave for vacation (and they’ll get company from a friend who’ll be checking in on them while we’re away).
It’s funny to look around the hotel suite as we pack up. Some interesting details:
- We’ve had over 20 packages shipped to the hotel.
- We’ve gone through 6 packs of diapers
- We’ve spent $200 on laundry (about 50 loads)
- We’ve spent 8 weeks (55 nights) at the hotel
- We’ve earned 99,000 Marriot Rewards Points (and earned Gold status for staying over 50 nights in one year) – this can get us an 8-day minivan/SUV car rental, 2 nights at the Ritz Carlton in Philadelphia, or we can come back here for 5 nights.
We have bags packed all over the place. Once cleaning is finished, I’ll be carting stuff over to the house (and bringing stuff for vacation over to the hotel for staging). It will be so nice to check out of here on Friday. The staff (maintenance/facilities, housekeeping, and front desk staff) have been remarkable. They have certainly improved the quality of our time here and have been extremely accommodating and friendly!
At 12:30, we’re exhausted (and strangely, it’s the cats and kids who have been napping off and on since 8pm) and off to bed. Perhaps the next time you’ll hear from us is when we’re on the road to Virginia (or maybe once we’re settled in there).
As always, we are very appreciative of your checking in on us and the various ways you’ve helped during our displacement. Thanks!
